Patachou est morte.
J’aimais beaucoup Patachou : sa voix, sa façon de chanter, son répertoire. La Bague à Jules (Jamblan / Siniavine), Bal chez Temporel (Hardellet / Béart), le Piano du pauvre (Ferré), Maman Papa (Brassens)… Mais la chanson qui me revient aujourd’hui, c’est ce Voyage de Noces (Jean Valtay /Jean Rochette).
J’avais cinq ou six ans, je ne comprenais pas grand chose à l’histoire, à ce lit tout ouvert où des corps s’étaient offerts (mon Dieu, qu’est-ce que cela pouvait vouloir dire, des corps qui s’offraient ?…) et je me demandais bien pourquoi j’ignorais – contrairement, semblait-il, aux autres gosses de mon âge – comment on faisait des châteaux en Espagne. Mais à chaque écoute, je tombais sous le charme de cette femme malheureuse, à la voix chaude, gouailleuse et mélancolique, et plus mélancolique aujourd’hui que jamais.
